A Bathing Ape or Bape is a Japanese clothing company whose main line is urban clothes. The company has many clothing lines to their credit and some of the things they sell are t-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, parkas, jackets, denim and sneakers they called BapeSta which is very similar to Nike Air Force One.

There are currently stores located in Japan, Hong Kong, Taipei, London and New York to name a few. Their store location and products are limited as part of their marketing strategy. Bape clothing line took off when artists such as Kayne West, Pharrell and the Teriyaki Boyz began wearing them. A bathing Ape clothing line was started in 1993 by Nigo. He started out by selling his t-shirts in a small store in Japan called Nowhere Inc. More and more his clothes began to sell and he began to expand.

Bape is a rather expensive clothing line as you can tell by people who wear them. The style of this clothing line is a bit unusual, some of the clothing bears the symbol of the clothing line which is the ape (the ape looks like the ape in the 1960s movie Planet of the Apes).

Other shirts have the design called Star Crew and Bape Kaws Star man. Bapes logos and themes are also based on a common Japanese saying meaning "bathing in lukewarm water". Bape began selling only to a company called Busy Work Shops and they focused in mens clothing and up until recently the clothing line extended to womens and children clothing.

Now there are Bape Cuts, Bape Gallery and Bape Café and a record label called Ape Sounds. Though they have been in business since 1993, you soon will see their products everywhere!
